The Bahrain Grand Prix has been officially cancelled following a vote at today’s World Motor Sports Council.
The decision comes after the teams rejected the proposed rescheduling of the race for October 30.
Last month it was announced that the race was to be rescheduled following its season-opener postponement.
But the teams said such a move was not logistically possible. The season would have ended in India on December 11 which was argued to be too late.
The move means that the inaugural Indian Grand Prix will revert back to its original October date.
Bahrain is due to host the season-opener of the 2012 season.
